I made a slew of how-to videos during my tenure as Digital Editor at Making Music Magazine from 2012-13. Here's one example, in which I demonstrate how to improvise a jazz piano solo. The animation itself is a bit rough, as it's some of my earliest work, but I'm including it mostly to showcase my approach to teaching through video. You won't find this piano technique in any lesson book; it's my own 'hack' to piano playing (I can barely read music myself).
I love taking complex concepts, like jazz improvisation, and boiling them down to something anyone can grasp. I'll visit this video periodically to check the view count and user comments, and it always puts a smile on my face to see how much it resonates with beginner musicians out there.
